October 2010 Tier 1 Challenge!

After an active lensmaking Friday I took the weekend off for some family events.  Now I’m back for the October Tier One Challenge.

The rules:

“each participant is to select ONE lens they have which has NEVER had a lensrank of 10,000 or higher (in other words, a lens that has never made it into tiers one or two), post the url in the SquidU forum thread, then do everything possible to boost that lens up to Tier One (2,000 or better).”

My Lens is going to be:  How To Use Yoga Props: A Yogi’s Best Friend

Curent Rank: #23,242 overall   Highest Rank Achieved: #12742 overall

Goal is to get is under #2000!

The first thing I did was add and modify the sub-titles with different keywords.  Then I added an iTunes Module for additional clickouts.  Lastly, I added an Amazon widget for a complete Yoga Prop kit.  Now, I am adding this blog.

More brainstorming tomorrow!

Tracking my progress:

Day One: 23,242

Day Two: 21,481

Day Three: 12,352

Purple Star Alert!

Oh my goodness!  How to Build a Nun Costume for Halloween just got a Purple Star!  It’s less than 2 hours old!

The Purple Star is “awarded to any lensmaster who creates a stellar lens.”

Whoo!  Today’s success!  Now time to go cook some Zucchini Sausage Parmesan for my next Cooking Lens!

What’s Next? SquidBoo! How To Make a Nun Costume!

I received a mini SquidBoo Quest in my points page a few days ago.  It’s a lead in to the October 2010 SquidBoo Challenge.  The mini quest asks, “Create a costume lens within the SquidBoo lensbuilding project.”

I knew the answer to this one right away!  I dressed up as a Nun last year for Halloween.  My husband and 3 pups (yes, each one had a costume) were going to a neighborhood costume block party, so we had to be ready for the occasion.

The challenge we had was to think of a couples theme that was fun, but still child-friendly.  Once we had our ideas we went about constructing them and had a fabulous time.

Check out the Nun Costume Results!

Veggie Lentil Stew Recipe Lens Complete

Decision made!  WIP list!  In my previous post I was debating which of the many SquidGoals I should tackle next.  I had recently made the Hearty Lentil Stew Recipe and took pictures of each step, so I decided to upload the pics to my computer and start in!

I ran across the Why Veg group (which may have initially made me crave this stew), so I created the lens from the HQ page.  Just looking at the red tomatoes and bell pepper on the headquarters page makes me drool!

I don’t know why I make recipe lenses in the morning, because now it’s nowhere close to lunch and I’m starving!  Especially after looking at rice cookers, breadmakers, crock pots and cookbooks for this lens!

I usually make this meal when I have about an hour and a half to prep it and let it simmer.  I scoop it into a big bowl, top it with rice, and dig in!

Yummy!

Which Squid Goal Next?

There is so much I could do on Squidoo I’m feeling a little overwhelmed and momentarily paralyzed.

I could complete any of the following options:

– Giant Squid Quest “Old Hortence’s Alphabet Soup”

Squid Paws 5 Lens Trophy

– The new Squid Boo Quests and Trophy

– My WIP list

– 3 Other Food Recipe Walk-throughs I’ve had in mind (Is there a SquidFood ‘front door’ out there?)

– Experiment with the SquidZipper front door (I wish I’d know about that when I’d done my Biltmore Estate series!)

Anyway, I’m going to kick back with a cold drink and sleep on it.  Decisions decisions!

Giant Squid!

I created this blog while I was eagerly awaiting an email that (I hoped) would tell me I had become a Giant Squid!  “What the heck?” you say. “How is that a good thing??”

I joined Squidoo in February 2010.  I forget how I found it or what inspired me to create a lens, but I did.  I had already decided to create a page about the Root Chakra.  That first one was so much fun that I created 6 more for all the rest of the Chakras!  Creating a Squidoo lens got my creative juices revved!  It’s easy to put a page together.  There are a variety of modules that you piece together and populate with content.  Then you can use easy HTML to add colors and borders and all sorts of great stuff!

Squidoo has an incentive program.  50 great lenses and you can apply to be a Giant Squid with Giantly Squidly bonuses.  By the most recent deadline of Sept. 30th – I had 55 lenses and I sent in my application.  Am I’m in!

I create lenses based on what I am most interested in.  Once I got to 50+ lenses I realized that I had created a display of topics I loved and it become an artistic representation of who I am – via lenses.  Here is a list of all of them so far!  This blog will represent my journey of exploring and discovering who I am through the lenses I decide to make!
